Bipolar disorder is normally associated with the Hyper functioning of the brains and manic conditions. The manic condition could also be triggered by the external attributes to add to the disorder. Bipolar disorder mainly is categorized into 4 types of condition. They are namely Manic Condition, Hypomania, depression and mixture of 2 or all the conditions.

Let us first discuss the manic phase. This is a phase when the patient is very hyper and feels very powerful. They normally indulge in excessive physical activities and feel invincible. They take aggressive decisions which they would have normally refrained from in their rational lives. They could get highly abusive and even get to the extent of injuring you if you did not agree to their point of view. They would even resort to the damage of the properties and feel like nothing in this world could hurt them.

They feel very energetic and physically very strong. They could take up impossible tasks due to their overly aggressive brain functioning. They will not be able to concentrate or focus on anything since the hyper active mind wouldn’t want to come to a conclusion and would keep jumping form one idea to another. Hallucinating and delusions are common symptoms of manic phase. Hyper reacting and getting into arguments or fights is seen in the people who have bipolar disorder.

They usually feel good in this stage but then they are actually functioning in an unnaturally hyper manner. This is where the actual problems begin since their body system is overused due to the manic conditions. This is when the body slows down completely because of the burnout caused during the hyper maniac stage. The person turns to become exactly opposite to what he/she was in the maniac stage. The mixed condition is normally seen in the teenagers. However, the elderly people could also experience it proportionally according to their age.

Few studies have revealed that bipolar disorder is a genetic disorder. However, not all the people inherit this disorder. There are certain external factors which could influence this disorder in genetically vulnerable individuals. These factors are terms as triggers which could cause the disorder in the later stages of a genetically vulnerable individual. The change in the environment around them or an occurrence of new relationship or even during the change of homes could trigger this disorder. It could be even triggered during the pregnancy periods in women. Sometimes it could be caused due to excessive usage of caffeine or nicotine. Mania is also caused due to drug abuse. Drugs like cocaine and ecstasy could cause mania in humans. However, alcoholism and influence of tranquilizers could cause depression and mixed conditions.

Thyroid treatments could also trigger bipolar disorder. Likewise there are many types of treatments which could behave like the triggers for the disorder.

The stages could be seen in particular seasons of the year. Excessive heat during the summer could cause mania. However, the colder seasons like fall and springs causes depressions in the people with bipolar disorder. The condition of the patients needs to be closely monitored by the doctor to help them to cope with this disorder.
